Wow. This is quite a book. It's the story of language and the lack of spoken word--as the title character, Edgar Sawtelle, is born mute. It's the story of dogs--as the Sawtelle's have a kennel and the life and love of raising and training dogs. It's the story of family. It's a coming of age story. It's Hamlet. It's part mystery, part thriller.
I loved this book.

I loved it, too! Spent the better part of a weekend in August sitting in the back yard plowing through it :-)
