thursday bug

Sometimes it helps to share with others what bugs your mind.
They may have a solution, a kind word, or a smile of encouragement.
This week my thursday bug is:

Realizing that I am way more into the discussion than any of my students are.

Sad, but probably true of most classrooms!

I find I have the same problem on many days. It's hard somethings to reach the kids on their level, but when you do...it's magic! I tach elementary (2nd grade this year) so it's a little easier than with the older ones - I can jump around and act like a total doofus and they eat it up! Plus it helps if I pretend that I think this is the BEST book, or my FAVORITE type of math problem, or that I LOVE this part of history...they are still a the age where they want to please the teacher for the most part!

Oh, God; this happens to me ALL THE TIME!

I see this also in meetings even with participants who are paying or being paid to be there. Seems like everyone's attention is so fragmented these days.

This made me laugh out loud - so true - especially as Kathi says, in meetings!
