idol chatter...
So, tonight the gloves are off--the judges are being critical. Still no one performance that's standing out as a "WOW" but it's the first night for the guys. Kara seems to have settled in more and is giving some really good feedback. Simon has been a bit harsh, I think.
Funny that tonight, Ellen is in black and Simon is in white.
All in all, it's another underwhelming night.

The funny story of a forty-something woman who gets the chance to reinvent herself after a diagnosis of cancer becomes a misdiagnosis. There were a couple of minor characters I'd like to know more about--they intrigued me. Good beach read, or if you need something kind of fluffy.

olympic fever
It's fun watching the women snowboarders. They have to be the most laid-back athletes at the Olympics. They wipe out and still wave to the crowd with huge smiles on their faces. They're having a lot of fun. I just don't like the music that is played while they board through the half-pipe.

The first of what looks to be a promising new mystery series--Chet and Bernie Mysteries. Chet is the dog narrator and Bernie is the owner of a detective agency. It was fun to see the story from Chet's perspective. Easily distracted as it may be. I'm interested enough to want to see how the characters develop.

Ten random things for this vacation week:
1) I have a ton of laundry to take care of--I've got sheets, blankets and towels. And I just bought some new towels.
2) Today was eleven-and-a-half hours in a stressful meeting. I'm wiped.
3) Therapy was great yesterday. My therapist remarked that I looked great and I told her it's because I'm on vacation.
4) The book Dog On It is fun. It's a perfect vacation read.
5) I may head South for some shopping. I haven't really decided what I'm doing this week. Other than laundry.
6) I need some supper. But I'm having a glass of wine instead.
7) I love my car starter with the door locks. I'm so glad I got it for myself.
8) We got Maggie a year ago! Her groomer thinks she's such a beautiful dog he wants to use her picture for the side of his mobile grooming van.
9) I'm switching channels between Idol and the Olympics.
10) My bestie and I will get to hang out while her kids are at their dad's. She needs some grown-up time.

So, I almost made a pretty significant impulse purchase today--a netbook. I was at Staples and if the customer service had been better, I would have walked out with a new toy. I am also toying with getting a Kindle. Gah. I don't know what I want.

Watching the opening ceremonies trying to catch a glimpse of a former student of mine who's on the US Biathlon team. I usually get my geek on watching the Olympics but this year seems even sweeter. Go Russell!! It's All Good!

Not part of my regular viewing, but I didn't feel up to watching a movie tonight. So, I turned to Survivor: Heroes v Villains. Yeah. Funny how the contestants are living up to their monikers. The first thirty minutes had two injuries and I'm bored. Now there's a show called Surviving Survivor. Now, that might be more my speed.
