monday movie meme

Play along with the Bumbles.

This week's movie topic is all about favorites movies seen this year, to date.

A new one to me was Law Abiding Citizen which was one I watched late at night and it made me jump a couple of times. Plus Gerard Butler.
And another movie I've re-watched that is simply amazing is The Fisher King.

Havent seen Law Abiding Citizen, but I saw The Fisher King long ago, very good if I recall rightly. Nice choice, and thanks for stopping by Smurfin' The Web =)

I loved Law Abiding Citizen. It was shot in Philadelphia and when I went to the movies, there was a huge outburst among nearly everyone in the theater during the scene where that Mayor lady has to change Jamie Foxx's job position at the last minute because the current mayor of Philadelphia is in that scene, handing the fake Mayor a bible or whatever kind of book he gave her. People were screaming, laughing and hollering but I wasn't sure if they were just surprised, proud or wondering WTF just happened?

For me, it was the latter because I was thinking.....why in the world is Mayor Nutter appearing in a friggin movie when he is supposed to be working.

Jamie Foxx and everybody else in Law Abiding Citizen are actors, so they are at work, working and doing their job. Is Nutter doing his job as the Mayor of Philadelphia? NO!

There are flash mobs, city budgets to deal with, school district issues to handle and more and what is he doing.....playing around in Hollywood.

Hey Nutter....let someone else do that job, like, I don't know.....an actor! I'm sure one of the unemployed thesbians on The Avenue of the Arts who didn't get cast in Law Abiding Citizen or took on low paying roles as extras could have benefited from that small role more than Nutter did.

Anyway, Gerard Butler plays the hell out of his roles....you are welcome to nominate him as next month's King Dong on my blog in your comments, this weekend and next week on any of my Leonardo DiCaprio posts.

Oooo - I haven't seen The Fisher King in forever! I remember really liking it and being blown away by the uniqueness of it and the performances involved.

I haven't seen either of these. I guess they'll both have to go on my TBW list. I've liked your book suggestions so far.
